Watch Ruth's Funeral Service

Ruth Herringer, age 79, of Ada, MN, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND, surrounded by her loved ones.

Ruth Ann Babler was born on March 29, 1943, in Borup, MN, to Elvin and Myrtle (Kappel) Babler. Ruth graduated from Borup High School in 1961. After being introduced by friends, Ruth met the love of her life, Van "Skip" Herringer. The couple were united in marriage on August 4, 1962 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ada. They lived in Arkansas for a short time while Skip was in the military before making their permanent home in Ada upon his return. Ruth and Skip were blessed with three daughters, Gerrie, Melane, and Corrie. Along with raising her family, Ruth held various jobs over the years. The most notable being a welder at Leisman's Manufacturing, building Viking Snowmobiles, as well as, spending many years working at Simpson Motor Company, which later became Berby Ford; working as a mechanic, a detailer, managing parts, and changing tires. In her later years, Ruth enjoyed working for the Ada VFW selling pull-tabs and cleaning. She was also a member of the Ada Ladies Auxiliary in her younger years.

Never to let her hands be idle, Ruth kept herself busy mowing lawns (only with a rider), assembling puzzles, and being social uptown with friends and family. She showed her love through her cooking and baking, making many cherished dishes, family favorites being her brownies, donuts and homemade horseradish. Her greatest joy was her family. Sunday Soup, where everyone gathered for quality time together weekly, was a tradition with her family, one that will be passed on for generations. Her feisty personality and generous heart will be greatly missed by her loved ones.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Gerrie Aasland, Melane (John) Gustavson, and Corrie (Tom) Runger; granddaughters, Mandy (Tom) Peterson, Mallory (Tom) Brower, Jasmine (Alex) Vasichek, Jacki Gustavson, and Katie Gustavson; great-grandchildren, Zander, Zayden, Finlee, and Bennett "Mr. B"; brother, Vince (LaVonne) Babler; sisters-in-law, Mary Babler and Linda (Ronnie) Hiller; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 44 years, Skip Herringer; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Bob "Sarg" Sargent; brothers, Richard Babler and Gerald "Butch" Babler; and extended family.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m., with a visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m., at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley. Burial will take place at the Ada City Cemetery. A meal will be served at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ada following the burial.
