Obituary

Russell Landreth Sr., age 77, of Twin Valley, MN, died suddenly on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Essentia Hospital in Ada, MN.

Russell Louie Landreth was born on November 19, 1944, in Staples, MN to Salah and Pansy (Koegh) Haynes. Growing up in an orphanage, Russell had a challenging childhood, and he began life on his own at the age of 14, working for area farmers. He later graduated from high school and attended Ridgewater College in Willmar, MN. Always wanting to improve his skills, Russell also studied locksmithing. In 1965, Russell was united in marriage to Sherry Heacock and they were blessed with four children. The family moved several times following Russell's career. Over the years, he spent much of his time as an over the road truck driver and transport specialist. He also served as director of a prison in California, a part of the support staff for the Willmar State Hospital, and several group homes. He loved his job delivering ice cream to area resorts as well. Following Sherry's death, Russell made his home in Bird Island, MN.  He met Marie Anderson and the couple was married on November 24, 2000. Their family grew by six more children, whom they lovingly raised together. In 2005, they moved to Callaway, MN and in 2008 found their home in Twin Valley. Russell worked for the Mahnomen County Demolition Landfill until his retirement.

Russell's hands were never idle. He was always involved in projects, repairs, or remodeling. He was a talented welder and could fix most anything. He enjoyed family camping trips when the kids were younger, but more recently spent his extra time watching conspiracy theory TV shows. Russell was an avid gun collector and enjoyed shooting sports.  He also liked to go to the Casino and playing Keno.
