Russel W.  Nelson, 93, Fertile, MN, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at Fair Meadow Nursing Home, Fertile, MN.

Russel William Nelson was born May 7, 1924 at Sundal, MN, to Nels M. and Josie (Amundson) Nelson. Russel was a quiet man always enjoying his time farming as well as the friendship of his neighbors and family. He had a love of outdoor activities, including various kinds of hunting in addition to fishing in the summer and ice spearing in the winter. Russel moved to Fertile in 1958; to Fair Meadow Assisted Living in 2014, and to Fair Meadow Nursing Home in January 2018. Russel was baptized, confirmed and a lifelong member of Sundal Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his sister Adelle Noss, Crookston MN; brother Lyle (Yvonne) Nelson, Grand Forks, ND; sister-in-law, Maureen Nelson, Gary, MN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Art, Lawrence, Leonard, Clifford, and Gordon, sisters: Bernice Horn and June Quant.

Funeral: 3:00PM Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Sundal Lutheran Church, rural Gary, MN.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the church.

Burial : Sundal Lutheran Cemetery, rural Gary, MN.
