Obituary

Rubye Schultz, age 74, of Ulen, MN, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Rubye Rae Hansen was born May16, 1938, the daughter of Clarence and Mary (McKeegan) Hansen in Hitterdal, MN. She attended Hitterdal Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1956. After graduation, Rubye furthered her education by attending Dakota Business College. On June 20, 1959, Rubye was united in marriage to JoNeil Schultz in Salem Lutheran Church, Hitterdal. The couple made their home in Hitterdal for the first four years of their married life. During that time, Rubye was employed at the First National Bank in Hawley. In 1963, Rubye and JoNeil moved to Ulen where she continued in the banking business, working at the Northwestern Bank for the next 36 years where she retired as vice president in 2002. In her retirement, Rubye enjoyed traveling with JoNeil including trips to China, Thailand and Spain and especially spending summers at their cabin on Strawberry Lake.

Rubye was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church for many years. In recent years, Rubye was an active participant in the Clay County Relay For Life. Some of her favorite pastimes included reading, sewing, traveling and spending time with people, but she truly treasured the time she spent with her family, grandchildren and her great-grandchild.

Rubye is survived by her husband of 53 years, JoNeil Schultz of Ulen; daughters, Lonni Schultz (Richard McLain) of Livonia, MI and Pamela (Ronald) Zimmerman of Dilworth, MN; four grandchildren: Zachary and Alison Zimmerman, Mary and Emily McLain and a great-grandson, Trey Zimmerman; brothers, Lyle (Barbs) Hansen of Lake Park, MN; Jack (Sylvia) Hansen of Hillsboro, ND; a sister, Amaryllys Thompson of Burnsville, MN and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Evaughn Oss and Caryl Oss, an infant brother and a special niece, Terrie Kujava.

Funeral Services were held Monday, January 14, 2013, at 11:00 AM in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ulen. Visitation was Sunday, January 13, 2013 from 3-5 PM with a Prayer Service at 4:30 in the Anderson Funeral Home, Twin Valley and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Officiating was Pastor Mike Rueckert with Carol Lockhart serving as organist and Susan Green serving as vocalist. Pallbearers were Lonnie Anderson, James Andersen, Peter Shae, Carl Lokken, Clifford Helgedalen and Gordy Nichols. Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren, Zachary Zimmerman, Alison Zimmerman, Mary McLain and Emily McLain.

Burial was in North Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Ulen.
