Obituary

Ross Miller, age 61, of Halstad, MN, died Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.

Ross Dean Miller, the son of Russell and Janice (Hansen) Miller, was born on August 6, 1954 in Mayville, ND. As a child, his family moved to the Miller family farm near Gary, MN, and he attended grade school in Gary. Later during his teenage years, Ross' family moved to the Agsco Farm near Fertile, MN, and he graduated from Fertile High School. Ross was united in marriage to Laurel Ystnes and they were blessed with one son, Josh. Ross and Laurel made their first home in Halstad for a time before moving to the Fertile area. Over the years, they also lived in Crookston, MN, and then spent three years in Texas, finally returning to Hendrum. Following a divorce, Ross lived in Ada, MN, where he primarily worked as a carpenter for Neil Hansen and at the Outpost Drive In. Due to health issues he has been retired for several years. In 2004, Ross moved to Halstad where he had made his home since.

Ross was very outgoing and loved to visit with family, friends, and neighbors. He was a wonderful shoulder to lean on and always took the time to listen to others, whether it was family or a stranger on the street. Ross had a very generous spirit and gave of all he had to those in need. He often volunteered at the Ada Library and always brought chocolate treats for the patrons of the Halstad Library to enjoy. Ross loved to read and also enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. Ross held a special place in his heart for animals and cherished his pets. He especially loved the time he was able to spend with his son, Josh, of whom he was so proud.

Ross is survived by his son, Josh Miller of Crookston, MN; his sisters: Pam (Tim) Brownmiller of LeMars, IA, Jan (Rick) Harpenau of Remsen, IA, Susen Miller of Ada, MN, Sharyn Gregor of Mora, MN, Diann (Rick) Prussia of Hendrum, MN, Elaine (Bill) Bitker of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Karen (Myron) Ingebretson of Battle Lake, MN; one brother, Robert (Gina) Miller of Twin Valley; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
