Rose Winter, age 94, formerly of Mahnomen, MN, resident of Augustana Health Care Center, Apple Valley, MN passed away peacefully on July 18, 2007.
Rose Thelen was born on July 4, 1913 to Joseph and Katherine (Mueller) Thelen in Mahnomen, MN. On June 22, 1937 Rose was united in marriage to Clarence Winter Sr. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Beaulieu, MN. They purchased a farm in Rosedale Township, rural Mahnomen, where they raised their family. In 1971, they retired from farming and moved into Mahnomen. During Rose's retirement years she continued to keep busy with work at the Mahnomen Hospital and helping her husband, Clarence, deliver milk to area residents. In 1994, they moved to Inver Grove Heights, MN to be near family.
Rose loved to crochet and play cards with family and friends. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those who survive Rose are three daughters, Darlene(Marty) Noll of St. Louis Park, MN; Bonita (Jim) Haider of Perham, MN; and Jean Winter of Apple Valley, MN; two sons, Cyril (Deb) of Eagan, and Clarence Jr., (Geri) of Lakeville, MN; a half sister, Theresa (John) Garman of Wesley, Iowa; a half brother, Larry (Donna) Thelen of Isanti, MN; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Kathryn Thelen. Preceding her in death was her husband, Clarence Sr.; her parents; one great-grandson, Christopher Noll; three brothers and two sisters.
