Obituary

Rose Saice, age 68, of Mahnomen, MN, died Saturday, February 24, 2018, at the Mahnomen Health Center Nursing Home, Mahnomen, surrounded by family and under Hospice Care of the Red River Valley.

Rosealy Ann (Casavan) Saice was born on June 30, 1949, the daughter of Zeno and Margaret (Ford) Casavan. Growing up she attended country school near Dorothy, MN, followed by high school in Red Lake Falls, MN. After graduation, Rose started working at Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls, MN. On May 28, 1977, Rose was united in marriage to the love of her life, Saul "Sonny" Saice. The couple moved to Mahnomen in 1978, where they have made their home ever since. Rose and Sonny were blessed with two children, a son, Donny, and daughter, Brandy.

Over the years, Rose worked at the bakery and as an off-sale clerk at the Mahnomen Liquor Store, but her true passion was her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, playing cards, especially 31, trips to the casino and bar bingo. Rose loved spending time at the lake, fishing, cruising in the Corvette with Sonny and doing a little road hunting! Her favorite treat was gummi bears and you were pretty special if she shared them with you. Rose cherished her time with her family, especially her grandchildren: Brittany, Chase, Carter, Madison, Wyatt, Blake and Abby and her favorite canine companion, Cujo. Rose was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. Rose had a very kind and generous heart and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Rose is survived by her husband, Sonny of Mahnomen, MN; son, Donny (Nicole) Saice of Mahnomen, MN; daughter, Brandy (Andy) Keller of St. Cloud, MN; seven grandchildren; her mother, Marge Casavan of Grand Forks, ND; brother, Art (Mary) Casavan of Grand Forks, ND; sisters: Varuna (Clarence) Boutain of Breezy Point, MN, Diane (Mike) Renner of Moorhead, MN, Tina (Bill) McKillar of Punta Gorda, FL, Judy (Jon) Mackowick of Grand Forks, ND, Sharon (Mylo) Lilke also of Grand Forks, ND, Sandra (Gary) Corbin, Polly (Tony) Newquist and Barb (Gene) Johnson, all of Crookston, MN; brothers and sisters-in law: Liz (Gary) Knott of Minneapolis, MN, Carol Burnside of Hawley, MN, Rose (Paul) Roy of Naytahwaush, MN and Debbie (Keith) Abdo of Mahnomen, MN; many nieces and nephews.
