Watch Rose's Funeral Service

Rose Christensen, age 97, of Ulen, MN died on Friday, May 22, 2020 at the Viking Manor Nursing Home in Ulen, MN.

Rose Marie Lorine was born to the parents of Emil and Esther (Anderson) Lorine on July 23, 1922, in Compton Township, near Deer Creek, MN. Rose was baptized on August 7, 1922 at Compton Lutheran Church and later confirmed her faith there in 1935. She attended rural school and later Wadena High School. Following her high school graduation, Rose went to work for Wadena County State Bank. On April 13, 1946, Rose was united in marriage to Thoris Christensen. After they were married, the couple moved onto the farm near Ulen, where they made their home together for over 40 years. Rose and Thoris were blessed with four sons: Roger, Dennis, Gordon and David. While raising her sons on the farm, Rose gently instilled in them her steadfast faith, her firm work ethic, and her dedication to family. Thoris passed away in 1988 and Rose continued to stay active at home on the farm. With the care of her son, David, Rose remained at home until last fall when, at the age of 96, she entered Viking Manor Nursing Home.

Rose's faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was an active member at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. For many years, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, taking part in bible study, and serving as Treasurer of the congregation. Rose was also a part of Bethlehem ELCA Women. Rose and Thoris enjoyed traveling and made wonderful memories around the United States. Rose spent many hours tending her gardens, canning and cooking. As the farm was always a welcome place for gatherings, Rose loved hosting her friends, neighbors, and most of all, her family. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Rose is survived by her four sons; Roger (Bonnie) Christensen of Breckenridge, MN, Dennis Christensen of Thompson, ND, Gordon (Christy) Christensen of Fargo, ND, and David Christensen of Ulen; four grandchildren: Jesse, Kyle (Emily), Andrea (Jarrod) and Alison (Steve); 5 great grandchildren: McKenzie, Peyton, Spencer, Adriana and Nora. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth McGrane and many nieces and nephews.

Rose is preceded in death by her husband, Thoris, her parents, Emil and Esther and brother Wallace.

With compassion for the health and safety of the community, Rose's family will hold a Private Funeral Service at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ulen, on Monday, June 1, 2020. All are welcome to attend the committal ceremony at North Bethlehem Cemetery at approximately 2:45 p.m.
