Ronald James Waller, 60, Twin Valley, MN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2011, at Veterans Affairs Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Ron was born August 17, 1950, the son of James and Nina (Erickson) Waller in Ada, MN. Ron grew up with his parents and sisters on the family dairy farm in rural Twin Valley. He was baptized at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and confirmed at Wild Rice Lutheran Church. In 1968, he graduated from Twin Valley High School. On April 4, 1970, Ron married Janet Hermann in Georgetown, MN. In June 1970, he was drafted into the United States Army and served as a medic until he was honorably discharged in June 1972. He returned to the Twin Valley area and farmed with is parents until 1975, when he took over the family farm. Ron and Janet raised four children and continued to farm until his death.

In his youth Ron was involved in FFA and 4-H, showing cattle and horses. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Throughout his adult life, he enjoyed deer hunting in the fall with his hunting group, taking his horse on trail rides, fixing cars and machinery, and spending time with his family. His pastimes included reading western novels, woodworking and leather work. He also raised and sold blue heeler dogs. He was a former member of the Twin Valley Riders Club and served on the Home Lake Township Board.

As Ron's health deteriorated over the past few years, he was hospitalized several times at the VA medical center. The staff treated him extremely well during these visits, especially the last month while he received hospice care in the palliative care unit.

Ron leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Janet, Twin Valley, MN; his mother, Nina Waller, Twin Valley, MN; four children, Randy, Twin Valley, MN, Steve, Brian and Jennifer, all of Moorhead, MN; two sisters, Sharon (Dan) Buckle, Twin Valley, MN, Sylvia (Merlyn) Olson, Flom, MN; a sister-in-law, Sally Simonson, Waubun, MN; a brother-in-law, James (Debbie) Hermann, Georgetown, MN; 3 aunts, 1 uncle and several nieces,nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, James.

Funeral Service: Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 2:00pm at the Twin Valley Community Center.

Visitation: Friday, May 20th from 5:00-7:00pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30pm at the Fredrikson Funeral Home, Ada, MN.

Burial: Twin Valley Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
