Ronald L. "Ronnie" Hanson, 81, of Ada, MN, died Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at the Halstad Living Center, Halstad, MN.

Ronnie was born October 6, 1936, in Crookston, MN, the oldest child of Orville and Opal Hanson. He was raised on a farm in Norman County and attended country school. He graduated from Ada High School with the class of 1954. Ronnie served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in October 1957.

Ronnie and Elaine VanderLinden were united in marriage on September 27, 1958, in Twin Valley, MN. They made their home on a farm northwest of Ada where they raised their children. He always stayed active around the farm and was known to put in many hours in his Caterpillar Tractors. Ronnie also had a passion for guns and cars. He spent many hours honing his shooting skills at places like "Brass Bridge."

Ronnie and Elaine enjoyed dancing with the Valley Squares, wintering in Texas, and taking numerous trips and cruises. He was an avid fan of western movies and was always reading books about Westerns and World War II. He was known to be the family historian and kept track of extended family members. They moved into a home in Ada in 1983. He had many friends over the years whom he shared numerous fishing and hunting trips, and socializing over coffee.

Ronnie was united in marriage to Kathryn Leiser on November 30, 2002, in Fertile, MN. They made their home in Ada, where they were active in Grace Lutheran Church and enjoyed traveling and spending time with their extended family.

Ronnie's health had failed in the past few months after being diagnosed with cancer. He had recently entered the Halstad Living Center and was under the care of his family and Hospice of the Red River Valley. May God bless the memory of Ronnie Hanson.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Kathy, his children: Randy (Judy) Hanson, Halstad, MN, Julie (Tracy Eberly) Hanson, Minneapolis, MN, and Mark (Susan) Hanson, Lockhart, MN, stepchildren: Jill (Brian) Hughes, Hudson, WI, Stacy Leiser, Lake Elmo, MN, and Jon (Jennifer) Leiser, Fertile, MN, grandchildren: Cora Hanson, Sarah Hanson, Chase Hanson, Payton Leiser, Tony Leiser, Jack Leiser, Gabrielle Hughes, and Elizabeth Hughes, two brothers: Jerry (Joanne) Hanson, Buddy (Jorgine) Hanson, both of Ada, MN, a sister: Patsy (Larry) Blaufuss, Madelia, MN, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Elaine.

Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley and American Cancer Society.

Funeral: 11:00AM Friday, August 17, 2018, at Grace Lutheran Church, in Ada.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the church.

Burial: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
