Roger Vandermay, age 65, of Ada, MN, died Thursday, August 13, 2026, at his home.

Roger Donald, the middle child born to Donald and Mildred (DeGeest) Vandermay was born December 19, 1960, in Whidbey, WA.  Growing up in a military family, the family moved around before putting down roots in New York Mills, MN, in the late 1970's.  Following his schooling, Roger entered the workforce.  He was united in marriage to Mary Koehler on September 2, 1983, in Marble Falls, TX. After living in Marble Falls for six months, the young couple then made their home in New York Mills.  In 1985, Roger entered the United States Army and they moved to various states including Kansas, Tennessee and Hawaii.  Roger and Mary were blessed with three boys.  Following an honorable discharge in 1993, the family lived in Washington State for a time before returning to New York Mills.  Roger then attended the Vo-Tech in Wadena for parts and sales in Ag.  He became employed by Norman County Implement in 1997 and the following year, Roger and Mary moved to Ada to make their home, where they have resided since.  After several years at the implement, Roger left the implement to work for Brian Borge on the farm.  A job he loved doing day in and day out.

If you knew Roger, you know he was stubborn, a bit impatient at times and most times, no filter.  However, he was also quite witty with his unique sense of humor and many people enjoyed his company.  In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and later it was to relax in his recliner and watch western reruns.  Roger also like spending time tending to his garden, playing solitaire and tinkering on old tractors.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Roger is survived by his wife, Mary, of Ada; three sons: Danial of Halstad, Richard (Shauna) of Wadena, MN, and Luke (Haven) of Ada; nine grandchildren: Dyllon, Corben, Brantley, Athena, Jaxson, Zelda, Evie, Freya and Scarlett; two sisters, Margie Sepanski of Perkinston, MS, and Shirley (Barry) Toews of Brainerd, MN; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Mildred.

Funeral Services with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Ada, with visitation one hour prior.
