Watch Roger's Funeral Service

Roger Myers, age 88, of Ada, MN passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Benedictine Care Community in Ada.

Roger Myers, the son of Norman and Lena (Holte) Myers, was born on August 24, 1934. He was raised on the family farm near Perley, MN. Roger attended country school and working full time on the farm until he was drafted into the United States Army on September 17, 1957. While serving, he spent most of his time stationed in Italy, majoring in food service, before returning home upon his honorable discharge on July 17, 1959. After returning home, Roger found love in the company of a neighbor girl, Carol Hovland, while they both worked on the Kroshus farm. They were united in marriage on February 17, 1962, and together they purchased their own farm in 1963, where they raised their family of three boys: Scott, Robbi, and Mike. Roger poured his heart into the farm and was proud to see the harvest each season. In addition to farming, he also worked many years during the beet campaign for American Crystal Sugar Company. When not in the field, working on machinery, or preparing for the next project, Roger enjoyed fishing, hunting, and sitting back enjoying a cold beer with friends and neighbors. He found much joy in hosting fish frys for everyone and spent many hours helping friends cut meat in his butcher shop. His dedication extended to his community as he faithfully served on the Mary Township board and was a member of Winchester Lutheran Church in Borup. Roger was the true definition of determination and hard work. He held strong to his values and had a quick-witted sense of humor. Roger's passion for farming continued upon his retirement, as he proudly sold the farm to his son, Robbi. He continued enjoying life on the farm until 2020, when declining health required him to enter the Benedictine Care Center in Ada, where he has made his home since.

Roger is survived by his wife, Carol of Ada; three sons: Scott of Scottsdale, AZ, Robbi (Jennifer) of Borup, and Mike (Kim) of Perley; one brother, Carl (Janelle) Myers; one sister, Donna Hoverman; seven grandchildren: Taylor (Chelsea) Myers, Jordan (Casey) Krieger, Paige Myers, Andy, Brianne, Claire, and Ryan Myers; and three great grandchildren: Carter, Barrett, and Beau.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Lena; four brothers: Floyd, Harold, Leroy, and Frank; and two sisters, Ida Tyler and Lillian Shaide.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Winchester Lutheran Church in Borup, MN. A time of gathering will be held at the church one hour before the service.
