Roger James Michaels, 76, of Fertile, MN, died on October 6, 2014, at his residence. He was born on April 20, 1938, to Rudolph and Esther (Ingebritgtson) Michaels in rural Fertile, MN. He was baptized at the Hafslo Lutheran Church, near Harold Station, and was later confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, rural Fertile. Roger attended Woodland Nook Country School near his home.

Following his schooling, Roger worked with his family on the farm. He did farm labor for Leo Lindberg in rural Fertile. In the early, 1970's, he moved to Farmington, MN, and worked with Public Services for the city. Roger was united in marriage to Geraldine Bellecourt on June 8, 1985 at Farmington. He worked with the city until retiring and moved to the Fertile area in the early 1990's. Roger lived on Maple Lake for a few years before moving to Fertile.

Roger is survived by two brothers: Walter (LouAnn), Farmington, MN and August (Nancy), Inver Grove Heights, MN; one sister, Muriel Briggs, Thief River Falls, MN; one sister-in-law, Doris Michaels, Fertile, MN; and several nephew and nieces. He is preceded in death by parents, brothers, Edmund and Arthur, and three sisters: Caroline Christianson, Augusta Gudvangen, and Adeline Gudvangen.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014, at 11 AM at the Erikson-Vik Funeral Home, Fertile, MN.

Visitation will be one hour before the services in the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Our Saviors Lutheran Cemetery, rural Fertile, MN.
