Roger A. Ek, 66, Fertile, MN, died Saturday, November 23, 2013, at his residence.

Roger Allan Ek was born January 7, 1947, at Ada, MN, the son of Orville and Winona (Olson) Ek. He was baptized and confirmed at Gary (MN) Lutheran Church. He graduated with the class of 1966 of Gary High School. Following high school, he worked near St. Cloud, MN, at a turkey plant for a few years. He entered the United States Army and served until in Germany until his discharge in 1973.

Roger started working for Abbot, Arne & Schwindt Construction Company for a few years and then for Barbarossa Sewer and Water Construction Company of Osseo, MN. He later worked for American Crystal Sugar during the harvest seasons. In 1991 he started working at Dee Inc. of Crookston, MN, where he worked for 18 years until he retired in 2009. He had lived most of his years around Fertile as he worked for the various companies.

Roger enjoyed times getting together with his family and friends, playing whist, and dice games. He also enjoyed his hunting and fishing trips and all of his pairs of cowboy boots.

Roger is survived by his brothers, Ronald (Linda) Ek, McIntosh, MN, and Robert (Ann) Ek, Fairfax, VT, his sisters, Randi (Trafton) Munson, Fertile, Rosalie (Mark Orre) Ek, Monticello, MN, Renee Goodin, Fertile, and Roxanne (Dale) Scully, Salisbury, NC, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins, and special friends, Dennis and Sharon Johnson, Twin Valley, MN. He was preceded by his parents, a nephew Anthony Ek, and a niece Staci Lyn Munson.

Visitation: One hour before the service on Friday at the church.

Burial: Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Twin Valley, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Twin Valley.
