Rodney "Rod" Jensen, age 49, of Ulen, MN, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014, from injuries he sustained in an auto accident near Ulen.
Rodney Dale was born June 2, 1965, in Fargo, ND, to Harold and Elaine (Purdy) Jensen. His youth was spent growing up in the Hitterdal, MN, area. Rod graduated from Ulen High School with the class of 1984. Following graduation, he moved to Pelican Rapids, MN, where he worked at the West Central Turkey Plant for several years. Rod and Renae Wheeler made their home together in Hitterdal and then Ulen. They are the parents of three girls: Jennifer, Amber and Megan. In 1992, Rod and Renae were united in marriage, but later divorced. Rod remained living in Ulen and working at the Ulen Locker. He was currently employed at the Locker, a job he enjoyed and had been at for a number of years.
An outdoor enthusiast, Rod, truly loved the outdoors and the activities it provided like hunting, fishing and trapping. He felt at peace when he was one with nature. Rod also had a very generous and caring spirit. He was kindhearted and loved all children. He was very understanding, non-judgmental and you could depend on him to be there for you. Rod had a great sense of humor and enjoyed scrapping things out and country music, especially that of Hank Williams.
Rodney is survived by his daughters: Jennifer Jensen, Ulen, Amber Jensen and Megan Jensen, both of Twin Valley; four grandchildren: Anthony, Emily, Anna and Ava; his mother, Elaine Jensen, Hitterdal; two sisters, Pam (Randy) Nelson, Barnesville, MN, and Laurie (Mike) Anderson, Hitterdal; four brothers: Gary, Allen, both of Hitterdal, Duane (Neela) of Hawley, MN, and Larry (Lauren) also of Hitterdal; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold, an infant brother, Terry; niece, Jasmine and nephew, Christopher.
Funeral Services were held by Pastor Mike Rueckert on Monday, June 23, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ulen. Special Music was provided by Susan Green and Carol Lochart. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Serving as Pallbearers were Herb Kubal, Travis Nelson, Bill Thompson, Larry Jensen, Keith Anderson, Roy Chounard, Allen Jensen, Duane Jensen. Honorary Pallbearers included Anthony, Emily, Anna and Ava, Cameron Briard, and all Rod's nieces and nephews.
