February 15, 2010, at Bridges Medical Center, Ada, MN.

Rodin W. Salverson, 95, of Ada, Minnesota, died Monday, February 15, 2010, at Bridges Medical Center, Ada. Rodin has bequeathed his body to science and medical study at the Mayo Clinic Anatomy Department of Rochester, Minnesota.

Rodin was born December 20, 1914, to Theodore and Alice (Nelson) Salverson in Ada. He was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church, Ada. He graduated from Ada High School. After graduation, Rodin moved west to work in California at Vega Aircraft (Lockheed) before enlisting in the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force he served in India, Burma and China Theaters. He was honorably discharged on April 12, 1946, and moved back to Ada. Rodin and his dad, Ted Salverson, owned and operated "Salverson's Store" for 99 consecutive years. Rodin was 88 years old when he retired.

Rodin was active in the Ada business and civic community. He served on the board of directors for the Ada Chamber of Commerce and the Heart of The Valley Golf Club, a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Ada VFW and Ada American Legion, Valley Cruisers Car Club, and the Red River Volkswagen Club in Fargo, ND. He enjoyed attending area car shows and parades with his yellow Volkswagen. He also was a pilot and enjoyed flying airplanes for years and also operating model airplanes. He especially enjoyed the times with his sister Rhoda's family around the holidays.

Rodin is survived by two nephews, Neal (Linda) Henderson of Cannon Falls, MN, and Mark (Maxine) Henderson of Moorhead, MN; two nieces, Nan Lopatka of Hudson, WI, and Dana (Arlan) Larson of Climax, MN; his nephew's widow, Julie Henderson Sorensen of Plymouth, MN; 12 great nieces and nephews, and 22 great-great nieces and nephews, and a dear friend, June Dale, Fertile, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Rhoda Henderson, his brother-in-law, Harris Henderson, his nephew, Gregory Henderson, and special friend, Noreen Mills.


Memorial Service: 11:00AM, Friday, February 19, 2010, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada.

Visitation: 5-7PM Thursday with a 6:30PM prayer service at Fredrikson Funeral Home, Ada.

Burial: Ada Municipal Cemetery.
