Robin Carew Sladen, 78, Borup, MN, died Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at his home under the care of his family and Hospice of The Red River Valley.

He was an Englishman born on December 22, 1940 in Nakuru, Kenya, who moved to Los Angeles as a young man of 21 years, where his passion for racing led to a lifelong career in European car and motorcycle restoration. As the Carly Simon song goes, "His friends were more than fond of Robin." He had a wry sense of humor and a soft heart for all feathered and four-legged creatures. In 1979, he met his love Karen and married her on a mountaintop in the Sierra Nevadas. They resided in Sherman Oaks, CA for 40 years before retiring to his wife's childhood home in 2016. Robin is survived by his wife Karen, stepdaughters Lisa and Angela Edwards, and brothers Simon Sladen and Avon Priestly. He was predeceased by his beloved parrot Maggie and feline Hershey.
