Robert Yost, age 83, of Bagley, MN, formerly Mahnomen, MN, died on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Cornerstone Sr. Care Center in Bagley.

Robert Leroy Yost was born on October 6, 1939 in Mahnomen to Herman and Evelyn (Stevens) Yost.  He attended and graduated from Twin Valley High School. After graduating from high school, Robert joined the Navy, where he worked as a cook and a jet mechanic. He moved to Ohio where he met the love of his life, Patricia Standall, and the couple was united in marriage on July 17, 1965. Together they raised three children: Wayne, Steve and Daniel. They continued to live in Ohio where Robert worked at Lennox Industries as a HVAC part painter. In 1979, the Yost family then moved to Mahnomen, where they've made their home since. Robert worked for Dagget Truck Lines for 15 years as a truck driver until his retirement.

Robert filled his free time riding motorcycle. He was the Pro Hillclimber in 1968 and the World Champion Hillclimber in the Pro Class. He also greatly enjoyed motor cross and enduro racing. He proudly won many 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards over the years. When he wasn't racing, he enjoyed fishing and time spent on the water.

Robert is survived by his sons, Wayne (Jackie) Hillyer, and Daniel (Lori Korte) Yost; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pat; son, Steve Hillyer; brothers: Dewayne, Ken, and Gerald; and other extended family.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, July 17, 2023 at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen, MN.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will be in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery in Mahnomen.
