Robert Dale Wegge, 79, of Halstad, MN died unexpectedly on Thursday April 20th, 2017 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Robert was born October 1st, 1937 in rural Nielsville, MN to Sigurd and Minnie (Rude) Wegge.   He graduated from Halstad High School in 1955. Robert then enlisted in the Marines in 1956 and was stationed in Guam and Hawaii.   He was honorably discharged in 1959 and returned home.   For a short time he lived and worked in Silver Bay, MN.

In the late 60's Robert moved to California where he married Lois Emmerson and had a daughter, Shauna. He worked as a Barber and for animal control until he moved back to Minnesota in 1977.

Robert took pride in owning and operating Bob's Bar in Nielsville. In 1988 he married Patti Samdahl and had three children — Marla, Berent, and Brandon. During this time he worked as an insurance agent for Bankers Life and Casualty until he retired. In his retirement years he enjoyed keeping busy, where Robert managed and maintained the Community Homes and the Bergee Apartments in Halstad.

Robert was one who would always be there to help wherever and whenever he was needed. Robert loved playing cards, dancing, reading and studying the bible, and had a big passion for animals. Anyone who knew Robert, could see how much he loved his children and adored his grandchildren. We lost a great man. He was the best brother, father, and grandfather any one could ever wish for. He will be greatly missed.

Robert is survived by his daughters, Shaunna Pottorf, Las Vegas, NV, and Marla (Jeremy) Wegge, Halstad MN; sons, Berent, Halstad MN, and Brandon, Fargo ND; brothers, Sheldon, Renton WA, Lyndon, Cummings ND, Rodney (Kim), Nielsville MN; sisters, LaVonna Coauette, Moorhead MN, Judy (Rick) Blake, Bonita Springs FL, Donna (Dave) Skusa, Faribault MN; and three grandchildren, Austin, Madalynn, Alex Marie.   He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Donnie.

Funeral: 11:00AM Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Moorhead, MN.

Visitation: From 5:00PM to 7:00PM with a 6:30PM prayer service on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Halstad.

Graveside Service: 4:00PM Wednesday at Sundet Cemetery, rural Nielsville, MN.
