Robert E. Pontow, 79, rural Gary, Minnesota, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Wednesday, February, 17, 2016.

He was born in White Rock, South Dakota on December 24, 1936 to Henry and Pearl (Schumm) Pontow. He moved with his family to Dawson, MN in 1940, growing up on the farmstead north of town.

Robert is survived by son, Curtis of Roseau, MN; daughters, Ruth Jacobson (Steven) of Manvel, ND, Nicole Adamson (Lee) of Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Jacqueline, Michael, Steven Jr., Eric and Elliott and Great-grandchildren, Kellen, Kalvin, Kolton and Regina; brothers, Edward (Virginia) of Seattle, WA, Richard (Edith) of the Dalles, OR; sister, Peggy Kaldahl of St. Francis, MN; many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service: 2:00PM Saturday, February 27, 2016, at Erikson-Vik-Ganje Funeral Home, Fertile, Minnesota.

Visitation: One hour before the service at funeral home.
