Obituary

Robert A. Pavek, Sr., age 73, of Waubun, MN, died Sunday, March 11, 2007, at his home in Waubun.

Robert was born June 2, 1933, to Joseph and Emma (Sery) Pavek on the farm in rural Waubun. He grew up and attended school in the Waubun area, graduating from Waubun High School in 1951. Following graduation, Robert moved to the Twin Cities, where he worked for the Pepsi Company. After a couple years, he moved back to the Waubun area and began farming with his family until 1977. Robert continued to make his home in Waubun, and worked at American Crystal Sugar in Moorhead until he retired in the late 1990's. He also worked at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, MN, for a few years.

Robert always enjoyed the outdoors, particularly leeching and hunting, including last falls hunt. He had quite a sense of humor and also enjoyed visiting with friends and going for coffee at the café. Above all, Robert loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a longtime WAMO member and an avid Waubun Bomber fan, following the sporting events and holding a Bomber Booster membership. Robert was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Waubun, and in his younger years, held memberships with the Waubun Wildlife Club and Hardwood Trailblazers Snowmobiling Club.

Robert is survived by two sons, Rob, Jr. (his significant other, Rae Ann Smith) of Waubun, and David (Jodi) of Detroit Lakes, MN; two daughters, Pam (Ed, Jr.) Kent also of Waubun, and Joy (Eric) Erickson of Ulen, MN; five grandchildren; and three brothers: Joseph, Jr. (Sylvia) of American Falls, ID, Addy of Waubun, and Ed (Jane) of Minnetonka, MN. He was preceded in death by two brothers, an infant, Stanley, and Ronnie in 2000.

Blessed be the memory of Robert Pavek.
