Obituary

Robert "Bob" Olson, age 73, of Fargo, ND, formerly Ada, MN, died Monday, January 20, 2014, in Essentia Health, Fargo.

Robert G. Olson was born August 26, 1940, the son of Andrew and Anna (Olstad) Olson in Sisseton, SD.
At the tender age of two, Bob's mother died, and he was raised by his father. As a young man, Bob lived in Aberdeen, SD, Longview, WA, as well as the Twin Cities, until age 16. He then moved with his family to a farm in the Gary, MN, community where he worked with his father and brother, Arnie, helping on the farm and also drove milk truck part time. In 1968, Bob married Linda Gade. The couple lived in the Twin Cities, Ada and Gary communities. They later divorced. Bob became employed for Richard and Diane Ista near Ada for many years. On August 12, 2006, Bob was united in marriage to Pam Iverson at the Gary Lutheran Church. Bob and Pam made their home in both the Twin Valley and Ada communities. For a short time, Bob and Pam co-owned the Eagle's Nest Café in Twin Valley. He was employed for several years by Bitker farms near Halstad, until last fall. The past three years they have made their home in Fargo.

Bob was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church until its closing. Some of his favorite pastimes included: playing bingo, reading, hunting and going out to eat. After moving to Fargo, Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and friends in Lindenwood Park. His kids will always remember the good times they had with their dad as he taught them to drive the farm trucks and tractors.

Bob is survived by his wife, Pam of Fargo; a son, Kevin (Tammy Pinske) Olson of Ada; four daughters: Kristi Lett of Mahnomen, Cindy (Cory) Keller of Ada, Ashley (Kevin) Miller of Ada, and Angie Evje of Bemidji, MN; 16 grandchildren; brothers, Arnold Olson of Ada, Gordon (Elsie) Olson of Moorhead; a brother-in-law, Harvey Smith of Bemidji, MN; his mother-in-law, Anita Fontaine of Ada along with several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kenneth and Alvin; four sisters: Lila, Gladys, Vivian and Margaret; a grandson; and a daughter-in-law, Shelly.

A Memorial Service was held on Friday, January 24, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. in Gary Lutheran Church, Gary, MN. A Time of Gathering was held on Thursday, January 23 from 5-7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6:30 in the Anderson Family Funeral Home, Mahnomen, MN. Officiating was Pastor Kelly Ahola.

Inurnment was in the Ada City Cemetery.
