Robert Clayton Bromander was born June 1, 1932, the son of Hugo and Clara (Solid) Bromander on the family farm south of Flom, MN, where he was raised. He attended country school in that community and later attended Ulen High School, graduating with the class 1950. As a young man, Bob farmed with his dad before entering the United States Army in 1953. Bob continued his farming career and on September 4, 1965, was united in marriage to Thelma Berglund at the Fosston Baptist Church. Bob and Thelma lived on the same family farm Bob had enjoyed all of his life. They had one daughter, Lisa Marie. After Bob's retirement from farming in 1995, they continued to stay on the farm. Thelma died May 17, 2012.
Bob and Thelma enjoyed traveling, especially going to Texas to visit their daughter Lisa and her family. Other favorite pastimes included going deer hunting, doing yard work, reading, woodworking and researching his family history. His relationship with God came first in his life, and he was also a devoted husband, father and friend. He was a lifetime member of Walworth Baptist Church where he served as treasurer and a deacon over the years.
