Obituary

Robert Boles, age 81, of Twin Valley, Minnesota, died Sunday, January 18, 2009, at his home.

Robert William Boles was born July 26, 1927, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the son of David and Clara (Moser) Boles. As a child he moved with his family various times, due to his fathers teaching career. Upon settling in Twin Valley at the age of 22, Bob began working at the local co-op. In 1944, He entered the United States Navy where he primarily served as a baker on naval ships. In 1950, Bob was united in marriage to Darlene Bentley in Webster, South Dakota. The couple made their first home in Twin Valley until he entered the United States Air Force. Initially, Bob was stationed in Omaha, Nebraska before relocating to Arizona. Shortly thereafter, Darlene and their son, Terry, joined him in Tucson, Arizona. Soon, their little family grew with the birth of their son, Micheal, and daughter, Patti. After serving in the Military for over 25 years, Bob retired and they returned to make their home in Twin Valley. Robert began doing various construction jobs as well as working for Stanley Habedank in Twin Valley. He later was employed with Viking Snowmobile in Twin Valley and also managed the VFW liquor store in Ada, Minnesota, for several years. In 1982, Darlene injured her back and Bob retired in order to be her primary caregiver. The couple has continued to make their home in Twin Valley.

Bob and Darlene enjoyed many winters in Arizona. Vegetable gardening was among his favorite past times, as well as preserving his produce. In his younger years, he loved to play softball and was a very talented cook.

Robert is survived by his wife, Darlene of Twin Valley, MN; two sons, Terry (Jean) of Cottage Grove, MN, and Micheal (Barbie) of Twin Valley, MN; one daughter, Patti (Wade) Meyers of Twin Valley, MN; and five grandchildren, Jennifer Boles and Elizabeth Boles both of Cottage Grove, Jessica Meyers and Wade Meyers Jr. both of Twin Valley, and Kirstyn Boles of Twin Valley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Avis Lien.

A Memorial Service was held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Twin Valley. Chaplain Karin Moberg officiated with Micheal Boles serving as the urn bearer. Serving as honorary bearers and providing military honors was Twin Valley Nesseth-Lien Post #431 of the American Legion.
