Robert Beaulieu, age 72 of Mahnomen, MN, died Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Mahnomen Health Center.
Robert Lee Beaulieu was born January 19, 1940 in White Earth, MN, the son of Roger and Jane (McDonald) Beaulieu. He grew up in the Beaulieu area and attended school in Mahnomen. In 1961, Bob entered the United States Army where he proudly served his country. Following an honorable discharge in 1968, he made his home in the Minneapolis, MN, area. While living in the metro, Bob worked for several years at Minnesota Bearing. In the early 2000's he returned to his parent's home place near Beaulieu. Bob worked in Maintenance at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen until failing health last fall forced him to retire.
Bob was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and also an active part of the Color Guard for the Mahnomen American Legion. In his younger years, he was quite energetic playing softball, horseshoes and various other sports. Bob was a true outdoors enthusiast; hunting, fishing and spending time in the woods. He also enjoyed visiting with friends and the companionship of his dogs.
Bob is survived by two daughters, Debra (Glenn) Pearson of St. Francis, MN, and Amy (Brian) Massey; one brother, Charles "Chuckie" Beaulieu of Mahnomen; eight grandchildren: Reggie, Sheri, Samantha, Madison, Dalton, Destiny, Kira and Koda; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Asher; his significant other, Rita Bjorge of Mahnomen and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Maxine.
Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 10 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Beaulieu, MN.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 23, 2012 at Anderson~Mattson Funeral Home in Mahnomen from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 6:30 pm.
Burial will be in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Beaulieu.
