Rita Kochmann's Obituary
Rita Marie Kochmann, age 65, of Moorhead, MN, died July 14, 2013, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Rita was born in Mahnomen, MN, to Al and Jo Kochmann on February 7, 1948. She was welcomed to their home in Mahnomen by her two sisters, Judy and MaryAnn. Rita attended school in Mahnomen through 6th grade and completed her education in Detroit Lakes, MN. By the time she graduated, she was surrounded by 4 brothers, Bob, Rich, Paul, and Allan, and another sister, Donna.
Rita enjoyed babysitting with her mother for various children in the Mahnomen area. She then attended a number of Development Achievement Centers including Fergus Falls, Crookston, East Grand Forks, and Moorhead. During this time she had the opportunity to work at several job sites, and was proud of her achievements.
Rita had many different interests in life. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, celebrating special events, drinking coffee at the Village Inn with her friends, and especially traveling with her sisters on her summer vacations.
Her unique sense of humor brought joy to all those she met. Rita's most recent home was in Moorhead under the care of CCRI. Her special friend, Jeannie Johnson Thorson, filled her life with security, love, and laughter. The staff at CCRI worked closely with Rita's family to ensure that Rita enjoyed life to the fullest.
Rita is survived by her brothers and sister: Judy Teiken (Paul), Park Rapids; MaryAnn Jasken (Jim), Park Rapids; Bob Kochmann (Cheryl) Moorhead; Rich Kochmann (Robin), Prior Lake, MN; Paul Kochmann (Nancy), Oxbow, ND; Donna Benke (Butch), Grand Forks; and Allen Kochmann, Battle Lake, MN, and Jeannie Johnson Thorson, her loving caregiver of many years. Rita is also survived by many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, her niece, Jackie Teiken, and infant nephew, Steven Teiken.

Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2013, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Mahnomen, MN.
Visitation was held on Thursday, July 18, 2013, from 5-7pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. at St. Michael's Church. Visitation was also held one hour prior to the service on Friday.
A Memorial Service was also held at 7:00 pm on Sunday, July 21, 2013, at St. Francis de Sales in North Moorhead, MN.
