Richilda Herrera, age 78, of Ogema, MN, died on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Richilda Mae Nickaboine was born January 13, 1937, in White Earth, MN, the daughter of Joseph and Delphine (Riley) Nickaboine. Her youth was spent in the Elbow Lake Village and Ponsford areas. In 1948, her father took a job at the Many Point Boy Scout Camp and Richilda attended school at Round Lake for five years. She entered the work force as a young lady and moved to Texas. Richilda was united in marriage to Ruben Herrera on July 18, 1955. The couple made their home in Texas where they raised their family of 7 children. In 1990, she moved back to White Earth.

Richilda, or Childie or Charlie as her friends and family liked to call her, was very social and had a good sense of humor. She loved country and spanish music and taught herself to play piano. Artistically blessed, she liked to paint and draw.   Fishing in the summer and puzzles in the winter were some of the things she enjoyed along with attending Wisdom Steps and going to the casino.

Richilda is survived by her sons: James (Katherine), Arthur, and Ray (Kimberly) and her daughters: Elizabeth Quintero, Jaunita (Omar) Cantu and Aundrea Gonzalez; her brothers, Robert and Will Nickaboine and sisters, Ardella Mertz and Genevieve Dawson. She was also blessed with 23 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and daughter. She will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 5, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the Waubun Community Center in Waubun, MN.
