Richard Frank Sip, the son of Frank and Helen (Bergman) Sip, was born at home in Pleasant View Township, near Ada, MN, on August 13, 1930. As a young boy, he attended country school until he grew old enough to help on the farm. On his 20th birthday, August 13, 1950, Richard was united in marriage to Donna Rasmussen at Grace Lutheran Church in Ada. The couple made their home on the family farm where Richard worked with his father for many years. Later in his career, he worked for Hartzel Barns, as well as drove truck for Don Krogstad during beet season. In the early 1980's, Richard began his employment with Tri Excavation. Combining his knowledge of heavy equipment with great co-workers that he always joked around with, created the perfect job for Richard where he made his career until his retirement. Richard was a known jokester that loved to make people smile. A few stories that would always bring a laugh were those about "Boss Hog" and Richard's truck being suspended in the air…Richard was in so many stories! Richard also enjoyed playing cards, horseshoes, and having a beer with friends. He could visit for hours and especially enjoyed his long conversations with dear friend, Dode. Richard also liked to simply drive around looking at fields, often stopping off for ice cream and treats. In his later years, Richard enjoyed family and quiet time on the farm. He spent hours caring for his "2-acre farm" by meticulously mowing and caring for his yard. After nearly 68 years of marriage, Richard continued to dote on Donna as her health declined. He lovingly cared for her needs every day. He also had a special place in his heart for his faithful canine companion, his dog, Lady. After a short hospital stay, Richard passed away at the age of 87, on Friday, January 19, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND.
