Richard "Dick" Dale Roy, age 87, of Golden Valley, MN, passed away September 29, 2017.

Dick was born March 6, 1930, in Minneapolis, MN. He was an enrolled member of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe; White Earth Nation. He grew up in Twin Lakes and graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1947. He then served in the U.S. Army 82 ^nd Airborne Division.

Growing up, Dick enjoyed visiting with family and friends, hunting, trapping and teasing his siblings. He will be remembered for his love of ricing, driving, music and storytelling.

Dick was survived by his sister, Lois Roy Harrold; brother, Martin (Pauline) Roy; sister, Gladys (Harold "Butch") Gordon; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis A. and Maria "Mary" (Oppegard) Roy; sister, Mavis Roy; nieces: Sharon Gordon, Cheryl Gordon, and Tracy Roy Maki; great niece, Kristina Harrold; great-great niece, Lyssa Gordon, and many relatives.

A joint Celebration of Life Service for Richard and his sister, Lois Roy Harrold, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Naytahwaush, MN.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment and Military Honors will be held in St. Anne's Catholic Cemetery, Naytahwaush, MN.
