Richard Emil Lisburg Jr., age 71, of Ada, MN, died Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at his home in Ada, MN.

Richard Lisburg, the son of Richard and Margie (Vraa) Lisburg was born on September 13, 1949, in Fargo, ND.  Growing up, their family lived in Gary, MN, Lockhart, MN, Ada, MN, and settled in Twin Valley, MN.  Rick attended school in Twin Valley and graduated with the class of 1967.  He met the love of his life, Julie Balzum and they were united in marriage on October 19, 1973, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ada.  They were blessed with three sons: Jeremy, Nathan and Matt.  The couple made their home in Mahnomen and Rick worked at the Mahnomen County Court House.  They moved to Detroit Lakes, MN, where Rick attended Detroit Lakes Vo-Technical College for accounting.  Realizing accounting was not his forever job, the family moved to Ada to make their home and Rick began working at Wagner Sawmill.  After a few years, he went to work at ConAgra Elevator in Ada and worked his way up to management.  He later worked for Loretel Telephone until the company sold to Arvig; at which time he went to work for the Georgetown/Perley Elevator.  Rick's declining health forced him into retirement at age 68.

Although he liked to stay busy with work, spending time outdoors was his greatest joy.  He absolutely loved planting and tending to his huge flower and vegetable gardens.  His generosity led to much of the abundant produce being donated to friends, family, and neighbors.  Rick also enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his father-in-law and brother-in-law, Sonny and Gary Balzum.  When he wasn't in his garden, he could be found frequenting the casinos.  Over the years, Rick and Julie went to Las Vegas and he met and made new friends on every trip!

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Richard is survived by his wife, Julie of Ada; three sons: Jeremy (Kristen) of Fargo, ND, Nathan and Matt, both of Ada; one grandson, Ryder Lisburg; two brothers, Wayne (Alice) Lisburg and Gary (Linda) Lisburg both of Twin Valley; sister, Amy (Russ) Jacobson of Lake Park, MN; one aunt, Marion Lisburg of Gary, MN; several nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Cheryl (Wayne) Roquet and Renea (Kelly) Kappes both of Ada; and one brother-in-law, Gary (Chasity) Balzum also of Ada.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Margie, and in-laws, Harold "Sonny" and Joyce Balzum.
