Richard Dean Soyring Sr., age 59, Waubun, MN, died unexpectedly Tuesday, December 30, 2014, in his home.
Richard Dean was born July 14, 1955, in Detroit Lakes, MN, the son of David and Delia (LaGue) Soyring. His youth was spent growing up in Elbow Lake Village. Rick attended Waubun High School followed by Detroit Lakes Vo-Tech. On April 2, 1981, Richard was united in marriage to Janell Pope in Waubun. The couple made their home in the village and were blessed with two children, Richard Jr. and Latanya.
Over the years, Rick spent his time working various jobs at the casino, leeching, recreation leader and Summer Youth Supervisor. He liked being around and supportive for the children, however, he was the most comfortable when he was outdoors, particularly in the woods. Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, leeching and woodworking. He also enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino! In his younger years, Rick was a Golden Glove boxer and spent time playing the drums, guitar and writing music. In recent years, his health declined but his personality of joking around and teasing never wavered. Rick's family continued to grow and become a steadfast part of his day to day life. He loved them all and especially cherished the time spent with his grandchildren. Gone from sight to soon, but forever in the hearts of many.
Richard is survived by his wife, Janell; children, Richard Jr. (Tina Crowell) and Latanya (Clyde Weaver) Soyring; three grandchildren: Rainy, Richard III and Darlyn; a special son and daughters: Daniel Moran, Amy (Andy) Soyring, and Carrie (Joe) Bush, all of Waubun; four brothers: David, Waubun, Bernard (Lois) also Waubun, Paul (Jen) Callaway, and Gary, Waubun; seven sisters: Elaine (Jesse) Finch, Jeanine (Mark) Conklin; Mary "Biz" Burrow, Yvonne "Pork" (James "Boy") Helms, Pamela (Herman) Holt, Tina (Terry) Bellecourt, all of Waubun; and Norma Hedlund, Detroit Lakes, MN; and; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
