Reome Jensen, age 90, of Twin Valley, Minnesota died Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the Twin Valley Living Center in Twin Valley, Minnesota.
Reome Minerva Raad was born July 14, 1919 to Adolph and Anna (Jacobson) Raad on the farm in rural Waubun, Minnesota. Growing up, she attended Cheerful Nook Country School, rural Waubun and graduated with the class of 1938 from Waubun High School. Following graduation, Reome worked as a hired housekeeper in the Crookston, Ada, and Twin Valley areas.
On October 11, 1941 Reome was united in marriage to Lester Jensen at the parsonage in Mahnomen, Minnesota. The couple made their home on a farm north of Flom, Minnesota, until 1943 when they moved to the farm in Home Lake Township, where they raised their family. Over the years, the couple milked cows, raised small grains and held several family get togethers. Reome took care of Lester after his strokes until his death in February of 1982. Following his death, Reome continued to provide care for several others in the community. Then after 50 years of living on the farm, she moved into the Wimmer Homes in Twin Valley in the early 90's. She would later move to the assisted living in Twin Valley in February of 2007 and then the living center in June of 2008.
Reome was a member of Immanuel and Aspelund Lutheran Churches, where she was active in the ladies aid and teaching Sunday School. Reome was an avid quilter and over the years made many quilts for her family, friends and the church. She loved to be in the outdoors, especially tending to her garden and mowing the lawn. Another facet that was dear to her was her family. She liked any type of family get together and cherished the time she was able to spend with her children and grandchildren.
Reome is survived by one son, Donald (Patty) Jensen of Ulen, MN; one daughter, Bonnie (Andy) Anderson, of Bellevue, NE; four grandchildren: Jodi (Matt) Kvien, of Twin Valley, Donivan Jensen, of Fargo, ND, Geoff (Becka) Anderson, of Evansville, IN, and Erick Anderson, of Bellevue, NE; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Allan (Pat) Raad, of Detroit Lakes, MN; and two sisters, Lorraine Piper and Lois (Cliff) Piper, both of Minneapolis, MN. In addition to her husband, Lester, Reome was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Nichole Lynn Ann Jensen; two great-granddaughters, Mia Lynn Jensen and Karlee Cheyenne Kvien; two brothers, Buddy Raad and Milo Raad; and two sisters, Leola Kenny and Edna Johnson.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 22nd at 1:30 pm at Aspelund Lutheran Church, Flom, MN. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 21st from 5-7 pm with a prayer service at 5:30 pm at the Anderson Funeral Home in Twin Valley, MN, and also continue one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Flom.
