Obituary

Regina Ann Larson, 58, of Fertile, MN, died on Friday, February 8, 2013, near her home. She was born on May 18, 1954, to Harold and Ruth (Ofstedal) Larson in Crookston, MN. Regina was baptized and confirmed at Little Norway Lutheran Church, rural Fertile. She graduated from Fertile-Beltrami High School in 1972, and studied Criminal Justice at Moorhead State University, Moorhead, MN, graduating in 1976.

Regina worked as a Probation Officer in Norman County until 1980, when she began studying at Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul, MN. She graduated in 1983, and practiced law in St. Paul, MN. Regina returned to Ada, MN in 1985, practicing law at Hellerud and Larson Law Office. On February 25, 1986, Regina was united in marriage to Mark Hellerud at Perley, MN. She continued to practice law until the present. Regina was active in the Norman County D.F.L. Party, where she contributed her time, effort and expertise to their work. Regina also worked with the Economic Development Authority in Ada, served as a director of the Day Activity Center in Ada in the 1980's and was a panel attorney for Legal Services of Northwest Minnesota.

As an animal lover, Regina had dogs, cats and horses, as well as various wild animals she befriended. Travelling in the United States, Caribbean and Central America broadened her appreciation for the world we live in. Also, because of her travels in Central America, she was inspired to sponsor young children in need of help for many years. Regina's kind and loving spirit endeared her to many. Love of family and her history was Regina's greatest joy.
