Obituary

Raymond Trochmann, age 93, of Ulen, MN, died Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Viking Manor Nursing Home in Ulen.

Raymond Vernon was born on the farm near Thief River Falls, MN, on October 26, 1921, to Anna (Wold) and Victor Trochmann. He attended country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Thief River Falls Lincoln High School with the class of 1940. Ray helped on the farm until he was called by the Lord to the ministry. In preparation for this ministry, he attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN. During his second year at Augsburg, Ray and a friend attended the Gateway Gospel Mission. It was here where Ray met the love of his life, Mildred Eastvold. They were united in marriage on November 27, 1948, at Jevnaker Lutheran Church, rural Borup. The couple made their home in the Twin Cities area where Ray worked for Johnson Electric Co. selling light fixtures. In 1956, an opportunity to purchase a farmstead near Mildred's parents became available. They purchased the farm east of Borup where they raised their family and farmed for 40 years. Upon retirement, Ray and Mildred moved to Twin Valley, MN, for 14 years before moving to Northern Lights Assisted Living in Ulen. Ray recently moved into Viking Manor and Mildred remains in their apartment.

Over the years, Ray was an active member of Jevnaker Lutheran Church and held the title of Sunday School Superintendent for 15 years. He also held membership with the Ada-Mahnomen Gideons and was on both the Borup School Board and Land-O-Lakes Board. In his spare time, Ray enjoyed carpentry and woodworking and loved to listen, sing and make music.

Ray is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mildred, of Ulen; son, Raynard (Glenda) of Moorhead, MN; daughters: Marilyn (Jim) Erickson of Fullerton, CA, Rebekah (Charles) Woods of Sherwood, OR, and Margaret (Dave) Tungseth of White Bear Lake, MN; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronald in 1964; four brothers; and four sisters.
Blessed be the memory of Raymond Trochmann.
