Raymond "Tug" Weaver, age 56, of Naytahwaush, MN, died on Monday, July 6, 2015, at McIntosh Senior Living, McIntosh, MN.

Raymond Kelly Weaver, known by many as "Tug", was born September 23, 1958, in Minneapolis, MN, to Lyman and Shirley (Malakowski) Weaver. His youth was spent in the Twin Cities area where he attended school and at a young age began boxing and excelled very quickly. Tug joined the All Nation's Boxing Club. His hard work and dedication paid off as he won the Upper Midwest Golden Gloves Championship shortly thereafter. More recently, Tug was an assistant coach to Terry Roy at the White Earth Boxing Club.

Tug attended grade school in Minneapolis and Naytahwaush and graduated with the class of 1976 from North High School. Following high school, he attended college at Macalester College in St. Paul, MN, with the intent to study law and practice in Indian Law. Tug also attended Augsburg and the University of Minnesota; eventually receiving carpentry training through the Urban Coalition. He worked for Paragon/Time Warner and Quest as a cable installer. After moving back up North he worked at Shooting Star Casino as a security guard and briefly at White Earth Tribal and Community College until his health declined.

Tug was an avid athlete; running, working out, bowling, and enjoying a good pickup game of basketball, baseball or football with family or friends. He had a personal record of running about a mile every day for six years straight. Tug loved playing sports with his boys and nephews, sometimes even letting his nieces play. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards especially poker, blackjack and cribbage.

Tug is survived by his mother, Shirley; five sons: Keith Clark, Raymond Carlson, Kelly Carlson, Leif Carlson and Matthew Carlson; one daughter, Michaela Weaver; one brother, Richard Weaver; four sisters: Veronica Weaver, Brenda Weaver, Patricia Weaver and Desiree (Sonny) Wadena; seven grandchildren: Marika, Raymond Jr., Jude, Dwayne, Karley, Kellyn and Dalton, and many nieces and nephews.

Tug was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, Bill and Margaret Weaver and Georgie and Annie Malakowski.
