Randie Engeseth
Conner
Apr 9, 1954 — Nov 22, 2020
Waubun
Randie Engeseth Conner, age 66, of Waubun, MN, died at her home on Sunday, November 22, 2020.
A bright spring day on April 9, 1954, at St. Mary's hospital, Detroit Lakes, MN, Randie Marie Engeseth was born to Arvid Troseth Engeseth and Greta Sakrismo Engeseth. Little Randie was baptized by Rev. Holm, in the very log house on the original farmstead, ten miles north of Lake Park, Atlanta Township, where her father was born. This began a love relationship with the land, farming, animals, flowers, and trees. Growing up on the farm was a special blessing to Randie and her family.
Confirmed in Atlanta Lutheran Church, Ulen, MN, by Rev. Jacob Andreason, gave her a real hunger to know more about the Word of God. When she was teaching at Grand Forks Central, Grand Forks, ND, she initiated a class in Old Testament Literature. It was so well received that the school had to add another section to accommodate all the students who wanted to take it.
Randie graduated from Lake Park High School with the class of 1972. After graduation she enrolled in Moorhead State University and graduated in Speech, Rhetoric and English Literature. Her first teaching job was in Wahpeton, ND. After two years she was hired at Grand Forks Central High School, Grand Forks, ND. Here she was head debate coach, taught speech, writing, and literature. Randie loved her years of teaching. She loved her students and they loved her back. She also cherished the many wonderful friends she made in and out of school.
On June 16, 1984, Randie married Tom Conner in Aspelund Lutheran Church, Flom, MN. She then moved to Louisiana where she worked for Don Smart and Associates selling Real Estate. Moving to Colonial Williamsburg, VA, Randie was hired by Casey's, a "high end", designer store. She worked as the associate buyer and really enjoyed the world of fashion.
Randie returned to Minnesota in 1989 and settled in Morris, MN. At the age of 42 she suffered a massive heart attack. The Mayo Clinic gave her six weeks to live. But you don't tell God how long you have left to live; He tells you. She lived 24 more years and her family thanks the Lord Jesus for every year we had her.
Randie was very proud to be of Norwegian blood and traveled to Norway and Sweden at the age of 17. She was also a steadfast Lutheran. Randie was a very talented musician and soloist. Her gift of entertaining family with piano, organ, or voice with be gratefully remembered. And lest us not forget her dancing!! She was fantastic!
Although we will deeply miss her sharp sense of humor, loving nature and astute advice, we are so happy for her! Jesus has taken the pain, tears, and sorrow and replaced it with His Unending Love.
Randie is survived by her Sister, Yvonne Engeseth Opdahl, Waubun, MN; her furry best friend, who misses her desperately, Sammy; Also surviving her are the many Sakrismo and Engeseth cousins, who are more like brothers and sisters than cousins. She loved them all and treasured them in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arvid and Greta Engeseth; her devoted dog, Mollie; and her many special aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Blessed be the memory of this kind, loving, and wonderful human being, Randie Marie Engeseth Conner.
