Rachel M. Blair, Fargo, ND, formerly of Ada, MN, died Friday, March 25, 2016, at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo.
Rachel Marie Magnan was born July 25, 1925 in Brainerd, MN, the daughter of Paul and Philomene (Legace) Magnan. She grew up in the Brainerd area where she attended elementary and high school.
Rachel was united in marriage to Rolland Blair on November 4, 1944 in Los Angeles, CA. In 1966, she moved to Ada where she resided for many years and raised her children. She was a very determined and hard- working lady. Over the years, she worked at Western Union, Herman's Super Value, operated her own licensed day care and adult foster care center, the Ada Public Library, and as a foster grandparent for the Ada-Borup Elementary School.
She was active in the community and a devoted member of her church, Faith United and Ruth Circle, the VFW Auxiliary, and the Royal Neighbors Association. Rachel was a very social person and enjoyed the time spent with family and friends. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening, reading, and anything with elephants.
Rachel's greatest love was spending time with children, including her children and grandchildren, day care, foster care and children she spent time with at Ada Elementary as a foster grandparent.
Rachel is survived by her children: Bill (Jennifer) Blair, Keith Blair, Bear Keeney, Judy (Doug) Burkett, Robert (Lee Ann Hall) Blair, Karen (Kenny) Anderson, Shiloe Blair, 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, two sons: Ernie and Joe, her brothers: Lloyd, Cyril, Leon, Joe, and Raymond, and sisters: Agnes Hupp and Elaine Werner.
Funeral: 11:00AM, Friday, April 1, 2016, Faith United Church, Ada, MN.
Visitation: Thursday, March 31st, 5:00-7:00PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00PM at the Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Ada, MN.
Burial: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN
