Phyllis A. Nirschl, 85, Ada, MN passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Benedictine Care Community in Ada.

Phyllis was born November 12, 1937 to Levi Dentz and Philomena (Laubach) Dentz in Mahnomen, MN. Phyllis grew up in Mahnomen and attended school there until her senior year when her family moved briefly to Minneapolis while her mom was sick with cancer.

Phyllis was united in marriage to Farrel Nirschl on October 20, 1956, they made their home in Ada, MN, were active members of St. Joseph's and raised three daughters.

Phyllis was a homemaker when her daughters were growing up, working a few years during the potato harvest. She then worked at several businesses in Ada until she retired. Phyllis entered Benedictine Care Community in 2018 due to a brain infection that caused some physical impairments.

You could always find Phyllis reading a book, drawing, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles or watching some of her favorite TV shows. Her greatest love was spending time with her family, cooking special meals for them and being a part of her grandchildren's lives. Phyllis always had a great love for animals, especially riding horse in her younger years. She was very fond of her pet cat Max and missed him dearly when he passed away. She was always happy to see you when you stopped for a visit.

Phyllis is survived by three daughters, Linda Kappes, Fargo, ND, Terry (David) Steen, Ada, MN, and Tammy (David) Busselman, Lake Benton, MN; twelve grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Farrel; daughter; granddaughter; grandson; her sister, Teresa; and brothers, Melvin and Robert.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 30, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ada, MN.

Visitation: 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, September 29, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ada, MN, with a prayer service to begin at 6:30 PM and the Rosary to follow.

Interment: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
