Peyton Zornes, age 20, of Ogema, MN, died Thursday, August 29, 2013.
Peyton was born January 6, 1993, in Detroit Lakes, MN, the son of Angela Whirlwindsoldier and Simon Zornes. He grew up in Naytahwaush, MN, where he was raised by his loving grandparents, Ruth and Shuff Bellanger. Peyton attended grade school in Naytahwaush and high school in Mahnomen, MN. Stressing the importance of school, Ruth and Shuff helped Peyton enroll in the Upward Bound Program at Bemidji State University. Following his schooling, Peyton, made his home in rural Ogema with his girlfriend, Krystal Warren, where they began their family. To this union, two sons, Steven and Marcus, were born.
In his spare time, Peyton liked to lift weights, play X-Box and spend time outdoors. He had a very special bond with his grandpa, Shuff and they spent countless hours together, many of them cutting wood. Peyton loved his boys and being a father. His second love was being in the great outdoors.
Peyton is survived by his children, Steven and Marcus Warren, girlfriend and mother of his children, Krystal Warren, all of Ogema; his grandmother, Ruth Bellanger and special Auntie, Briana Bellanger, both of Naytahwaush; siblings: Brandon White, Naytahwaush, Marissa Whirlwindsoldier, Minneapolis, MN, Miranda Whirlwindsoldier, Bemidji, MN, Brayden Murray and Isabelle Murray, both of Naytahwaush. He is also survived by Angela Whirlwindsoldier, Simon Zornes and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Steven "Shuff" Bellanger.
Traditional Services were held on Wednesday, September 4th, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at the Sports Complex in Naytahwaush, MN.
Visitation began on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013, at 6pm, and continued until the service on Wednesday.
Interment was held at St. Anne's Cemetery in Naytahwaush.
