Peter Bates Jr., age 35, of Twin Valley, MN died suddenly on Friday, May 20, 2022, at his home of natural causes.

Peter Alfred Bates Jr., the son of Charlotte (Hickok) and Peter Sr., was born November 24, 1986, in Moorhead, MN.  His family moved several times, but Peter spent most of his childhood in the Twin Valley and Ulen, MN communities. After graduating from Hawley High School, Peter worked various security guard positions.  He served as security at numerous music events, working many years at We Fest, where enjoyed getting to know the performers.  Peter also liked to both work security for, as well as watch, 4-wheeler Mud bogs and races.

Peter was an avid fisherman, loving both summer fishing and hardwater ice fishing. He enjoyed being outdoors, four wheeling, mudding, and snowmobiling. He took time to sit down and enjoy the peace and quiet nature provided.  Peter was also an intense online gamer and spent many hours on his PlayStation.  These games and technology allowed him to make friends from all over the United States, many with whom he became very close to.  Peter was known to be a jokester, always cracking jokes and teasing others.  Making sure those around him were smiling was one of his many gifts.  Peter loved to visit and would easily make friends just by being himself.  Charlotte and Peter would often travel to visit friends. They made monthly drives to Thief River Falls and had just recently returned from unforgettable trips to Las Vegas and Florida. Memories on those trips will forever be cherished. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his mother, Charlotte; one brother, Kelly; two sisters: Brandie (Brian) Phiefer and Lisa (Steven) Sampson; four nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Bates Sr.
