Peter K. Johnson, 65, Gary, MN, died Saturday May 23, 2015, at Fair Meadow Nursing Home, Fertile MN.

Peter Kennedy Johnson was born on August 15, 1949, at Gary, MN, the son of Emery and Bernice (Mahlum) Johnson. He grew up on the family farm near Gary, attending Gary Public School and graduating in 1967. He worked on the farm and for the Mahlum Brothers Farm. Over the years, Peter also worked in construction, operating heavy equipment for Henry Brothers Excavation and Mark Two Inc. He retired to live on the family farm near Gary.

Peter loved to watch wildlife—birds, deer, rabbits, bear, coyotes and the scenery of changing seasons. When he was able, Peter was an avid hunter, enjoying many years of hunting with family and friends. He was a good mechanic and found tinkering on "projects" rewarding. Peter was proud of his son, Carson, and his accomplishments as he matured into a responsible adult. Taking life one day at a time allowed Peter to appreciate the moments.

Peter is survived by his special friend, Rhonda Tarno, his children, Carson (Chelsea) Johnson, Chad Paschke, John Paschke, Patrick Johnson, Derrick Johnson, Jared Johnson, and Jodie Johnson, siblings: Wendell (Penny), Carolyn Rasmussen, Kyle (Donald) Joppru, Gayle (Daniel) Thorson, and Nancy (Roger) Johnson Houg, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral: 1:00PM Wednesday, May 27, 2015, Gary Lutheran Church, Gary, MN.


Visitation: One hour before the service at the church.


Burial: Sundal Lutheran Cemetery, rural Gary, MN.
