Peggy Jo Tretter, 53, Red Lake Falls, MN, formerly of Fertile, MN, died on Monday, August 29, 2011, at the Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. She was born in Crookston, MN to Tom and Darlene (Moterberg) Kronschnabel. She grew up in Fertile, graduating from the Fertile-Beltrami High School in 1977.
On August 27, 1977, Peggy was united in marriage to Randy Tretter at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Mentor, MN. They lived in rural Red Lake Falls, where they operated an auto recycling business. Peggy also worked with her parents at Coast To Coast in Fertile. When metal prices were low, Peggy worked in other businesses part time: Lee Nursery, Bergeson Nursery, and as a beet hauler. Peggy realized she was sick with cancer in late July of 2011.
Painting allowed Peggy to be creative and express her self. She painted all kinds of subjects, including Christmas bulbs with paintings of family homes on them. Wildlife and pets were always near and dear to Peggy; her children have fond memories of baby mice and stray cats and dogs. Wherever Peggy went, went her camera. Peggy photographed anything that caught her attention, especially her granddaughter, Ashlee. She took countless photos of Ashlee over the years. Randy, Cassie, Chad and Carrie were loved and cared for, but Ashlee was the twinkle of her eye and the pride of her life.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Randy, Red Lake Falls, MN; one son, Chad, Grand Forks, ND; two daughters, Cassie Tretter, Fertile, and Carrie Mull, and her daughter, Ashlee, Fergus Falls, MN; son-in-law, Ken Mull, Underwood, MN; her parents, Tom and Darlene Kronschnabel, Fertile; two brothers, Dean (Joan) Kronschnabel, and Jeff (Sue) Kronschnabel, Fertile; in-laws: Tim (Mary) Tretter, Pierz, MN; Jerry (Margaret) Tretter, Grand Forks, ND, Fertile, MN; and Michelle (Peter) Buchholz; nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Memorial services will be on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at 11 AM in the Sundal Lutheran Church, rural Gary, MN.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 2, 2011, from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM in the Erikson-Vik Funeral Home Fertile, MN.
