Owen Stanton Braseth, the son of Oscar and Stella (Amundson) Braseth, was born on January 25, 1923, at home, near Ulen, MN. Owen, along with his 2 brothers, were raised on the family farm working alongside their father. He was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ulen, where he was baptized and confirmed. Honoring their heritage, the family spoke only Norwegian until starting school in Ulen, where the boys learned English. After graduating at the age of 17, Owen helped on the farm until he entered the United States Army in 1944. He proudly served during the height of World War II spending much of his time in Okinawa, Saipan, and the Philippines. After the war ended Owen's last year of deployment was spent in occupation on the Northern Island of Japan, after which he was honorably discharged and returned home. Owen then studied auto mechanics at Hanson Mechanical Trade School in Fargo, ND. He was employed for a time at Gibson Implement in Ulen, before taking over the family farming operation. On October 4, 1952, Owen was united in marriage to Darlene Nodsle, and the couple was blessed with three children. Together they raised both grains and dairy cattle until his retirement in 1985. Owen was known to follow a rigid schedule but made time for his family, for his neighbors, and for all that needed to be done. A special part of his routine each day was to drop the kids off at school, get the mail, and stop for coffee each morning, visiting with neighbors and friends.  He loved his trips to town where he could talk Norwegian with old buddies, his two brothers, and his parents. He took special pride in his life-long membership in the VFW at Ulen. The Veterans around Ulen were his brothers. In his retirement, Owen could be counted on to help transport friends and neighbors to daily appointments. After moving into town, Owen spent hours in his woodworking shop making beautiful clocks and furniture pieces for his family to treasure for generations. He often reminisced, proudly, about his service time and was humbled to be taken on the honor flight. He also enjoyed his several trips back to Norway to visit his homeland. After 98 wonderful years, Owen's body grew weary and he entered the arms of his Lord on December 8, 2021, at the Fargo Veterans Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Owen is survived by his wife, Darlene of Ulen; one son, David (DeEtt) Braseth of Ulen; two daughters, Lisa (John) Austinson and Deb (Kerry) Walton, all of Ulen; and his sisters-in-law: Loretta Braseth, Lorraine Nelson, Carol Meyer, Beverly Schultz, Diane (Waldo) Syverson, Donna (Eugene) Tangen, Ardith (LeRoy) Peterson and Gwen Nodsle; as well as 10 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Byron "Buddy" and Schuyler (Orpha); and one grandson, Chris Tangen.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on December 13, 2021, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ulen, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
