Oscar Green, Jr., age 63, of Ulen, MN, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012 from injuries he sustained in an automobile accident.

Oscar Jr. was born May 29, 1949 in Hawley, MN, the son of Oscar (Sr.) and Fern (Olson) Green. He was baptized and confirmed in his faith at the Jevnaker Lutheran Church. Jr. was raised on a farm northwest of Ulen and attended school in both Ulen and Felton. He graduated from the Felton High School with the class of 1967.

On September 7, 1968 Oscar was united in marriage to Diane Gilbertson at the Grace Lutheran Church in Ada, MN. The couple made their first home in Moorhead, MN, then moved to Perley, MN, before then moving to Ada. Jr. and Diane lived in Ada until 1977. At that time, they relocated to Hagen Township, west of Ulen, where Jr. built their first home. This is where they raised their children. In 1993, they purchased his grandfather's Century Green Farm in Hagen Township, where he built their second home, which was a log cabin. They have made their home there since.

For 42 plus years, Jr. was employed by T. F. Powers Construction, working on projects in both North Dakota and Minnesota, only to retire a few years ago. Some of the projects include every Hornbacher's Store in the Fargo-Moorhead area, the Hjemkomst Center, and too many others to mention.
In addition to his lifestyle as a carpenter, Oscar also enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing and hunting, and either listening to or watching the Twins. His greatest pride and joy came from his children, grandchildren and his entire large extended family. Jr. was a modest, dependable, talented and respected man. With his kind, thoughtful, and energetic way of life, he was always ready to lend a hand to help anyone in need. He touched the lives of many and will be missed by all who knew him.

Oscar is survived by his wife, Diane, Ulen, MN; three sons: Darcy (Melissa) and Dustin (Jessica) both of Ulen, MN, and Devin (Tina) Hawley, MN; five sisters: Orla (Howard) Myhra, Hawley, MN, Barbara (Richard) Erickson, Ulen, Ruby Sandal, Lake Park, MN, Arlene (Todd) Kjos, Hitterdal, MN and LoAnn (Fred) Thornton, Twin Valley, MN, seven brothers: Harley (Janet), Daniel (Marilyn), John (Judy), Tony (Jennifer) and Wesley (Joy) all of Ulen, Kenneth (Renee), Moorhead, MN, and Bryan (Ellen) Dilworth, MN; 12 grandchildren: Mackenzie, Hunter, Colton, Caitlin, Clara (Maddy), Jerell, Mason, Dalton, Alexis, Shawn, Tucker, Morgan, plus many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special pets: Ace and Foo Foo.

Jr. was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Allen; one sister, Carol Luthi; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence and Irene Gilbertson, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dennis and Harriet Kolnes.

Funeral Services were held Wednesday, Oct. 24th at 11:00am in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ulen, MN. Visitation was Tuesday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm with a family service at 6:00pm at the church. Pastor Bill Helland officiated with Susan Green providing the music. His pallbearers were all of his brothers and his honorary pallbearers were all of his grandchildren. Interment was in the Jevnaker Lutheran Cemetery rural Borup, MN.
