Obituary

Orville "Bill" Hedrich, 82, Hill City, MN, died Saturday, January 2, 2016, at the Halstad Living Center, Halstad, MN.

Orville Charles Hedrich was born on March 26, 1933, at home near Gary, MN, in Spring Creek Township. His parents were Charley and Emma (Zahn) Hedrich. He attended rural school near the farm and later attended public school in Gary. He was drafted by the United States Army in 1954, and attended basic training in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. Bill served from 1954 to 1956, and was stationed in Germany for part of the time. Following his discharge, he returned home and was employed by the Swenson Farms, near Gary for a time.

Bill was united in marriage to Orpha Ueland on October 18, 1958, in Halstad at the church parsonage. They resided in Hendrum for a number of years where Bill was involved in truck driving for Sherman Kolness and other companies. He later moved to Hill City where he continued to drive truck and farm. He was self-employed and also worked for Dale Zorman Trucking. He recently retired from trucking after a total of 57 years. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed gardening and four wheeling with friends and family. In his earlier years, he enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips. He had a special bond with "Lacy", a dog that he cared for.

Bill is survived by his daughters: Debra (Brian) Borgen, Hendrum, MN; and Pam (Rod Ambuehl) Hedrich, Perley, MN; three grandchildren: Angie (Jamie) Trautner, Felton, MN, Brandon (Maria) Borgen, Perley, MN, and Aaron (Kelsey) Borgen, Perley, MN; six great-grandchildren: Aubrie and Kaylee Trautner, Krista, Cynthia, and Brody Borgen, and Oliver Borgen; four sisters: Dorothy Hanson, Ada, MN, Evelyn Von Holt, Hoyt Lakes, MN, Marcella Olson, Crosby, MN, and Helen Nelson, Hillsboro, ND. He was preceded by his parents, his former wife, Orpha, seven brothers: Clarence, infant Lloyd, infant Edwin, Conrad, Richard, Walter, and Armond, six sisters: infant Alice, infant Lillie, Irene Gade, Edna Sannes, Florence Lindstrom, and Edith Trandem and several cousins, nephews and nieces.

Funeral: 2:00PM, Friday, January 8, 2016, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fertile, MN.

Visitation: For one hour before the funeral service.

Burial: Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, Fertile, MN.
