Orpha Geneva Hedrich, 84, of Hendrum, MN, died Saturday, August 15, 2015, at the Benedictine Care Community, Ada, MN.

She was born to Oscar and Gina (Aarestad) Ueland on the home farm in Shelly Township, near Shelly, MN, on June 12, 1931. Orpha was baptized and confirmed at Augustana Lutheran Church, rural Halstad, MN. She attended Garfield Country School near her home and graduated from the Halstad High School in 1949.

On October 18, 1958, Orpha was united in marriage to Orville (Bill) Hedrich in the Halstad Lutheran Church parsonage. They made their home in Hendrum and were blessed with two daughters—Debra and Pam. Orpha began cleaning homes for elderly women in the Hendrum area and enjoyed it so much that she started working for Tri-Valley Housekeeping. Orpha served with joy as a housekeeper for 35 years.

In her pastime, Orpha enjoyed picking strawberries, pulling weeds, and just tinkering in her garden and yard. She had a love for old time country music and was always the first one to get up to dance to a good polka or a waltz, whether it was at a dance hall or just in the living room. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hendrum, and enjoyed attending circle, coffee time, and quilting.

Orpha cared deeply for her family and enjoyed spending time with them. In the past few years, she enjoyed her new role of becoming a great-grandmother. She especially enjoyed sitting in the chair with a little one on her lap.

Orpha is survived by her daughters: Debra (Brian) Borgen, Hendrum, MN; and Pam (Rod Ambuehl) Hedrich, Perley, MN; three grandchildren: Angie (Jamie) Trautner, Felton, MN, Brandon (Maria) Borgen, Perley, MN, and Aaron (Kelsey) Borgen, Perley, MN; six great-grandchildren: Aubrie and Kaylee Trautner, Krista, Cynthia, and Brody Borgen, and Oliver Borgen; two sisters: Irene (Virgil) Rodenborg, Hawley, MN and Junice (Andrew) Berg, Mayville, ND; and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Vernon Ueland.

Funeral services will be on Friday, August 21, 2015, at 11 AM in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hendrum, MN.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 20, 2015, from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM in the Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Halstad, MN.

Burial will be in the Augustana Lutheran Cemetery, rural Halstad, MN.
