Orlynn Wang, age 95, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 3, 2023 under the care of his family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Orlynn Sylvester Wang was born on December 29, 1927 to Peder and Bernice (Fevig) Wang at home northwest of Ulen. He grew up and attended school in Hagen Township. As a young man he helped out on the family farm. Orlynn was drafted into the United States Army at 25 and served from November 1953 to October 1955 in Frankfurt, Germany.  Orlynn met the love of his life, Patricia Bullock, while she was working at the Blue Bird Restaurant in Moorhead, MN. The couple were united in marriage on November 6, 1956 in Detroit Lakes, MN, and made their home in Moorhead.  The couple were blessed with two children, Gregory and Lorie.  While in Moorhead, he was employed at the American Crystal Sugar Company and assisted a local farmer.  Orlynn was a jack-of-all-trades, he spent nearly 20 years working at his brother-in-law Bill's carpet laying company, as well as using his talents for countless remodeling jobs for loved ones.  In 1975, they had the opportunity to purchase land northwest of Ulen which had been in Orlynn's family for nearly a century. Orlynn and Patty cut down 90 oak trees themselves to clear the way for their forever home.   Orlynn did maintenance for the City of Ulen for 20 years, and finally retired in December of 2000.

Orlynn was never one to be idle for long and this lasted well into his 90's, as he was still cutting wood at the age of 93. He was happiest with a chainsaw in hand, walking behind a snow blower, or riding on his lawn mower or tractor. In his younger years, he enjoyed going dancing. Family was everything to Orlynn and he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many memories were made of Orlynn singing made-up songs to get the little ones to sleep. Although he was a quiet, softspoken man, his actions were loud with his kind heart and caring nature.

Orlynn is survived by his son, Gregory, Ulen; daughter, Lorie (Tim) Doran, Ulen; four grandchildren: Cody (Katie) Wang, Charley (Anna) Wang, Crystal (Zebulen) Dickey, and Nicole Borgen; and 13 great-grandchildren: Ella, Lenora, Alexa, Connor, Lincoln, Ryder, Charley Jr., Cain, Edwin, Zoe, Gabby, Eliyanah, and Maddox.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; his parents; son-in-law Greg; three brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 16, 2023, at 11:00am, with visitation one hour prior, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ulen, MN. Burial will be held at Bethlehem West in Ulen.
