Orland Swenson, age 78, of Twin Valley, MN, died Thursday, April 6, 2017, in Essentia Health, Fargo.

Orland Alvin Swenson, the son of Samuel and Lillian (Askelson) Swenson, was born on March 24, 1939 in Borup, MN. He attended school in Ulen, MN and later moved to Dilworth, MN. In 1961, Orland married Phyllis Knutson and was blessed with two daughters. He was employed for the Coca Cola Company for many years. In 1969, Orland was involved in a motorcycle accident after which he was unable to work. He married Gloria Milligan, but the couple later divorced. Orland spent most of his life in the Dilworth community before moving to Twin Valley. He has made his home in the Twin Valley Living Center for the past several years, where he made many friends whom he cherished as family. Orland had a passion for old cars, his favorite being his 1960 Cadillac. When he was able, Orland enjoyed spending time with friends and going for drives in the country. He was also known for singing along with a good song and making people smile.

Orland is survived by two daughters, Colleen Rasmussen and Karen (Joe) Kroshus; one sister, Shirley (Bob) Kelsven; three grandsons and one great grandson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dean; and one sister, Ardis Nicholas.

A memorial service will be held at 12:30pm on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley. Inurnment will be at a later date.
