Orlaine A. Gnadt 91, Ada, MN, died Saturday, July 28, 2018, under Hospice care, at Benedictine Care Community, Ada, MN.

Orlaine was born on October 7, 1926, at home near Ada in Pleasant View Township. Her parents were Fred and Anna (Bramar) Thomforde. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church near their home. She attended country school near Lockhart, Minnesota. After her school years, she moved to Trenton, New Jersey, near her family to work in a factory during the war.

Orlaine was united in marriage to Laurence Gnadt in July of 1946, in Crookston, MN. They resided in Lockhart where they raised their family. Their home was a gathering place with neighbors, partly since they had the first television set in Lockhart in the 1950's. She also enjoyed gathering with extended family members for picnics and special trips to Twin Lakes. Laurence died in 1969 and a short time later, she moved into Ada. Orlaine had worked at the Ada Ben Franklin Store, the Dekko Community Center, and also as a babysitter.  She was a member of First English Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid, Happy Homemakers, Royal Neighbors, and a past member of the Ada VFW Auxiliary.

Over the years she had many medical challenges, but always preserved and remained positive. She enjoyed when her family would gather for special events. She had special friends with which she enjoyed socializing, playing Bingo, bowling, and trips to the casino. Orlaine became a resident of Benedictine Care Community in 2014, and always appreciated the friendships made with other residents and the special care from the staff.

She is survived by her children: Linda (Curtis) Parsons, Moorhead, MN; LeRoy (Becky), Mike, and Wade, all of Ada, one sister: Darleen Peterson, Franksville, WI; one brother: Marvin (Ruth) Thomforde, Sturtevant, WI; 9 grandchildren: Michael Gnadt, Mindy (Steve) Zayachkowsky, Heidi Bingle, Nicholas Gnadt, Sarah Gnadt, Brent (Stef) Parsons, Marni Parsons, Ryan (Mel) Parsons, and Brooke Plan, 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Laurence, 4 brothers: Willis, Wayne, Loren, and Vernon, and one sister: Sharon Thomforde.

Funeral: 11:00AM Monday, August 6, 2018, at Zion Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.

Visitation: Sunday, August 5, 2018, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Ada.

Burial: Lockhart Pleasant View Cemetery, rural Ada, MN.
