Olga Eid, age 95, of Pelican Rapids, MN, formerly of Mahnomen, MN, died Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Living Center in Pelican Rapids.
Olga Marie was born on December 28, 1912, in Mahnomen County to Odean and Berti (Langeland) Erickson. She grew up on a farm west of Bejou, MN, where she helped on the family farm while attending school.
On February 10, 1932, Olga was united in marriage to Ole Eid in Gary, MN. They lived in the Sundal area for many years before moving to Mahnomen in 1950 to make their home. Olga worked at the Corner Café and Red Apple Café as a cook and baker, later becoming a nurse's aide at the Mahnomen Hospital.
Known for her wonderful baking skills, she made excellent lefse and homemade breads and buns. In her spare time, Olga loved tending to her large gardens which she had on the farm and in town. Other pastimes she loved included knitting and crocheting.
Olga was a member of Sundal Lutheran Church growing up, later becoming a member at First Lutheran Church in Mahnomen.
She is survived by her daughter, Annabelle (Floyd) Lecy, Moorhead, MN; two sons: Wally Eid, Mahnomen; Arvid (Anne) Eid, Shreveport, LA; nine grandchildren: Douglas (Laurie) Eid, St. Cloud, MN; Janice (Dave) Hilmer, St. Peter, MO; Donna (Tim) Morris, Ballwin, MO; Patricia (Jay) Burns, Haughton, LA; Michael (Stephanie) Eid, Elton, LA; Debbie (David) Nelson, Folsom, CA; Tom (Mary Jo) Lecy, Eden Prairie, MN; Charles F. Fargo, ND; Tammera Jo, West Fargo, ND; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, parents and siblings.
